Post-traumatic stress and associated factors among healthcare workers in the early stage following the 2020 Malatya-Elazığ earthquake

Objective: An earthquake is a natural disaster that seriously affects individuals physically and psychologically. Although there has been great deal of research on the psychological effects earthquakes, few have focused local health workers its early effects. In this study, it aimed to determine levels predictors post-earthquake trauma working in affected area occurred January 24, 2020, Malatya-Elazig.
 Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out sample 201 healthcare after three weeks from earthquake. order factors may affect response participants, questionnaire applied question demographic variables, previous traumatic experiences, concerns losses at time earthquake, institutional social expectations. Post-Earthquake Trauma Level Determining Scale used record levels, TEMPS-A dominant temperament characteristics.
 Results: Severe level detected 25.8% participants. scores were higher women, those who married, had children, experienced for first anxiety about losing their own life or relative's during logistic regression analysis, determined anxious fear loved one an increased severity trauma, whereas history decreased it.
 Conclusions: Detection associated with important both terms protecting mental ensuring continuity services disasters such as earthquakes millions people.
